Thermal throttling under sustained workloads
The XPS 16 has more thermal headroom than the XPS 13 or 15, but sustained workloads — extended video exports, 3D rendering, or simultaneous CPU and GPU load — still expose the limits of a thin chassis design. As thermal paste degrades with heat cycling, the heatsink contact efficiency drops and the system throttles to stay within temperature limits. Regular thermal maintenance is worthwhile on hardware used for sustained creative or engineering workloads.
