Overview

iPhone Repair

Apple's iPhone lineup spans five distinct form factors — the compact SE, the standard and Plus models, and the Pro and Pro Max at the top of the range. Each line has its own display size, camera system, and internal layout, but they share the same fundamental failure modes: cracked screens from drops, battery degradation from daily cycling, charging port wear, and liquid damage that can bypass even IP-rated enclosures.

Brentworth reviews iPhone mail-in repair requests when the fault needs proper diagnosis before parts are ordered. Face ID faults, board-level no-power conditions, and liquid damage that is not immediately obvious are among the more common reasons a proper assessment is needed before repair work is quoted.

Choose your model

iPhone repair varies by model due to differences in display type, Face ID hardware, and internal layout. Select a model below for specific fault information.

Common Issues

What we fix

Cracked and shattered screens

Screen damage from drops is the most common iPhone repair submission. Depending on the model, a cracked screen may still function, partially function, or fail entirely. OLED panels on Pro models are more expensive to replace than standard panels. The display assembly on newer iPhones also contains Face ID calibration data, which affects how replacement is handled.

Battery degradation

iPhone batteries lose capacity with charge cycling over time. Apple's battery health indicator provides a percentage, but even batteries that report above 80% can cause unexpected shutdowns, reduced peak performance, or swelling. A battery that causes the device to shut off under load, no longer holds a useful charge, or shows visible swelling should be replaced.

Charging port and Lightning or USB-C damage

iPhone charging ports accumulate lint, debris, and mechanical wear from daily use. A port that charges intermittently, requires the cable to be held at an angle, or no longer charges at all may have debris compacted inside or physical pin damage. Cleaning resolves some cases; others require port replacement.

Water and liquid damage

IP ratings on iPhone models indicate resistance to water ingress under controlled test conditions — they do not make the device waterproof. Saltwater, chlorinated water, and submersion beyond rated depth or duration can all cause damage. Liquid damage on iPhones often presents as intermittent faults, speaker or microphone failure, charging issues, or a device that worked immediately after exposure and then developed problems later.

Face ID and biometric failure

Face ID on supported iPhone models depends on a TrueDepth camera system that is tightly paired to the device. Damage to the front camera module, dot projector, or flood illuminator can disable Face ID entirely. Some faults are repairable; others are not recoverable without the original paired components. Describe the fault clearly in intake.

No power and failure to boot

An iPhone that will not respond to the power button or charging cable may have a deeply discharged battery, a damaged charging port, or a board-level fault. A device that was working and then suddenly went dark, or that shows no response despite charging, needs board-level assessment to determine the cause before repair work is quoted.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you repair all iPhone models?

Brentworth reviews repair requests for iPhone SE, standard iPhone, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max models across recent generations. Acceptance depends on the fault, the model, and whether the repair is economically viable. Submit intake before shipping anything.

Will repairing my iPhone void my Apple warranty?

Third-party repair work may affect your Apple warranty or AppleCare coverage. If your device is still under warranty or covered by AppleCare, check whether the fault qualifies for Apple service before sending it for third-party repair. Brentworth does not interact with Apple warranty or insurance claims.

Does IP water resistance protect my iPhone from liquid damage?

No, not fully. IP ratings indicate resistance under specific controlled conditions. Saltwater, chlorinated water, pressurised water, and submersion beyond rated depth or duration can all cause damage. The seals that provide water resistance also degrade over time, meaning older devices with IP ratings are less protected than they were when new.

Can you fix Face ID after a screen replacement?

That depends on whether the TrueDepth components were damaged or disturbed. A screen replacement that does not involve the front camera module should not affect Face ID. If Face ID was lost during a prior repair, Brentworth will assess the cause before quoting any work.

Can you recover data from an iPhone that won't turn on?

Data recovery from an iPhone depends on the fault. If the board is intact and the fault is isolated to the battery or charging circuit, the device may be recoverable. If the board itself has failed, data recovery is significantly more complex. Describe the fault and history in intake and Brentworth will advise on the realistic options.

My iPhone screen is cracked but still works — should I repair it now?

Yes, if the crack is progressing or exposing the display assembly to moisture or debris. A cracked screen that is left unrepaired can worsen from minor handling, and cracks that reach the edges of the panel can allow liquid to enter the device more easily.

Can you replace the battery on an iPhone?

Yes. Battery replacement is one of the most common iPhone submissions. Include the exact model at intake so the correct replacement can be confirmed.
