MagSafe 3 and Thunderbolt charging faults
The MacBook Pro 14 M5 charges through MagSafe 3 or its Thunderbolt ports. MagSafe faults present as no LED activity, an intermittent connection, or a connector that no longer holds position. Thunderbolt charging faults may involve the port, the controller, or the board. The M5 Pro and M5 Max configurations draw significantly more power under load than the base M5, so a marginal charging fault on a high-configuration machine tends to surface first as a system that discharges while plugged in during heavy work.
