Every 16-inch M3 is an M3 Pro or M3 Max, which means every one of them draws heavily under load. Under a sustained full-system load an M3 Max can draw more power than the adapter supplies, with the battery making up the difference by design — it should recover once the load drops. It becomes a fault when the machine discharges under moderate load, fails to recover at idle, or behaves differently than it did when new. Describe the workload and adapter wattage at intake.

Does the Space Black finish affect what can be repaired?

No. The finish is cosmetic and does not change what is repairable on the board or in the display assembly. It does mean chassis wear and impact marks show more clearly than on Silver machines, so note any physical damage in your intake even if you think it is unrelated to the fault.

Can you repair a liquid-damaged M3 MacBook Pro 16?
