HDMI port failure and no video signal
HDMI port damage is the most common PlayStation repair submission at Brentworth. The PS5 HDMI port is particularly susceptible — the connector can fracture or develop poor pin contact from cable leverage, movement during play, or pulling the cable at an angle. The result is no video signal, intermittent signal loss, or a distorted image. On the PS5, port damage is also sometimes accompanied by failure of the HDMI encoder chip on the motherboard, which produces no signal even when the port itself appears intact. The PS4 family is less prone to port failure but it does occur.
